Membership Information

These are just a few words to describe one of America’s most extraordinary icons, Benjamin Banneker. Preserve his legacy at the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum by becoming a member of The Friends of Benjamin Banneker, a volunteer group that strives to educate the public about his many achievements. During his life time, he published six almanacs, helped survey our nation’s capitol, and exchanged correspondence with Thomas Jefferson about the injustices of slavery.

The Friends believe the Banneker story is one that can educate, enlighten, and serve as a lifetime inspiration to all. But in order to continue this mission, your financial support is needed. In the past, contributions have helped to fund site improvements and many special programs such as the annual black history and women’s history month programs, the colonial market fair, the cultivation of a colonial kitchen garden, and the jazz concert series. Your contribution will fund these and many more educational activities in addition to upholding Banneker’s legacy and preserving this awe-inspiring part of American history.

By becoming a member, you will receive reduced program fees when applicable and a free subscription to The Friends of Banneker quarterly newsletter. All contributions are tax-deductible. You are invited to email for membership information  and consider purchasing a membership gift for a friend or relative. It would make a perfect gift for any occasion!

On behalf of The Friends, we would be delighted to have you in our membership program. Please consider joining us as we strive toward our mission.

Sincerely,
Membership Chairperson
